This organisation is well established in the rail industry and over recent years has enjoyed sustained growth across its disciplines through acquisitions, recruitment and internal promotion. <br/> <br/> The Opportunity <br/> As a Bridge Engineer you will undertake inspections, structural surveys, feasibility studies, planning and detailed design on rail bridges across the South West region. This will involve site visits, report writing and desk studies (giving your recommendations), and the analysis and design of rail bridges, including widening, strengthening and replacement schemes. As a cutting-edge consultant, this company will make available to you all of the latest industry software, helping you to provide the best solutions for the client. You will work under a Senior Bridge Engineer (Chartered Civil Engineer) who will assist you with technical matters and act as your mentor, helping you to develop as an engineer and manager. This company will offer you numerous opportunities to attend seminars and training courses relevant to the rail industry and positively encourages your personal development. You will also be given the opportunity to pursue an approved training programme to achieve Chartered Engineer status with the Institute of Civil Engineers. <br/> <br/> Your Skills, Qualities and Achievements <br/> To be successful in this role, you must have proven skills in bridge engineering: inspection, assessment and design in all materials to British Standards. You will preferably have worked on Rail projects based in the UK, although knowledge of highways bridges will be useful. You will also have bridge maintenance and improvement project management skills (or be able to develop them) with the ability to communicate your ideas strongly and clearly, to technical and non-technical individuals. It is preferable that you are qualified to degree level in civil engineering or a related subject through a course that is accredited by the ICE for their Chartered Membership status.
