Title: Health & Safety Advisor - Construction - South East UK-South East/Southern

The Company

Our Client is one of the UK's leading geotechnical specialists with a reputation for quality and innovation within the field of foundation and underground engineering and they are currently looking for a Health and Safety Advisor.


Main Purpose of the Job:

To monitor the effectiveness of the Group's safety policy and assist in implementing changes as required
To provide Safety & Operative skills training to meeting the Group's requirements
To promote & provide Safety & Operative skills training to other companies on a commercial basis


Key Tasks:

o Promote an interest and enthusiasm for health and safety throughout the Group

o Initiate and maintain measures to improve the Group's safety record

o Carry out inspection of all workplaces necessary to ensure that the Group's Health & Safety Policy is being adhered to. Prepare reports for management and project staff.

o Ensure a full Knowledge of all relevant health and safety legislation, Codes of Practice and HSE/Industry Guidance notes, and communicate that information as required.

o Liaise with HSE Inspectors, Local Authorities, Fire Authorities, and Client's safety departments.

o Where appropriate, maintain contact with safety supervisors, safety representatives, and safety committees.

o Investigate and record information on accidents and dangerous occurrences, and to report to the appropriate authority as required under the RIDDOR Regulations 1995.

o Advise and assist management in their duty to asses, control, and effectively manage risk to health & safety.

o Advise and assist in the preparation of contract safety plans/ method statements, and ensure that a review and modification is carried out as required.

o Ensure all sub-contractors are competent and have allocated sufficient resources to enable the work to be carried out in accordance with the health and safety plan and current legislation

o Advise and assist with training at all levels of employees

o Liaise with clients over their training needs and deliver training courses for clients in line with current standards and recommendations from the QCA & National Training Organisations

o Prepare and deliver training courses in line with recommendations from the training bodies.

o Offer expertise and assistance to the training bodies in the development of specialised Qualifications and Training.

o Keep financial records of transactions, both internally and externally, and ensure that wherever possible Grant aid is received

o Day to day management of the training facility


Knowledge and Experience Required:

o A full knowledge of all relevant Health and Safety Legislation, Codes of Practice, and Guidance notes

o Experience in the Construction/Civil Engineering/Geotechnical Engineering, in order to comply with the requirements of legislation

o Relevant H&S related qualification

o Have the relevant instructional qualifications, knowledge and experience to provide training on matters of health & safety, and practical instruction on construction plant & specialist equipment.


THE PACKAGE

Salary: Circa £30,000 basic, plus benefits
